Understand damage before choosing a finish.
Gig Harbor remains in Mario’s Pierce County service area following his move to Yelm. If a wood floor has changed shape or developed stains, identifying what happened matters before deciding on a new finish.
Investigate damage before covering it
Tell Mario about known leaks, moisture exposure, or changes in the room’s conditions. Repair & restoration begins with understanding the affected boards and whether the cause is still active. A coating does not correct an unresolved moisture problem.
Photographs should show the wider area as well as the damage. Cupping, gaps, stains, or movement require assessment; their appearance alone is not a diagnosis.
Review the options once conditions are understood
Hardwood floor refinishing depends on the floor’s suitability for sanding and the extent of any damage. Some stains or material differences may remain. Read refinish or replace? before assuming that sanding or replacement is the only option.
For new installation, discuss subfloor and moisture conditions along with the manufacturer’s requirements for your shortlisted material.
